Urban – 52 Project

The San Dimas Lemon Association packing house was considered the largest in the world in the early 1900s.  It was also the first packing house to have refrigerated storage, to use automatic box making machines, and to stamp the lemons with “Sunkist”.  Another fun feature of the packing house was the lemon crate labels that they used, which included dogs to advertise the fruit.

In recognition of its history, the city has dedicated a few walls to the lemon crate labels.  Here are two with Xavi posing in the foreground.Urban-52 Project-1Urban-52 Project-2Next up in the project circle is Barking Lab Studio, New Jersey dog photography.  Check out the fun idea Alicia Kapheim had with this week’s urban theme.

Re-shoot, Re-edit or Re-visit – 52 Project

Collage.IMG-5996Glad to be back in the 52 project blog circle after a few weeks off due to life’s craziness.  Of this week’s choices, I went with re-visit edits and chose the image that I posted in February 2013 of Xavi playing roof top ball.  Here he is  jumping and catching the ball just as it slides off the roof.   He can do this for hours!

The 2013 image is on the left.  The right image was adjusted to re-crop, add brightness, adjust color saturation, add back in cloned out portions of the background, and add a nice sky with clouds.   Much happier with this version because my older image was just too dark.

Next up in the blog circle is Windsor Ontario Pet Photographer, Candid K Nines.  Enjoy the weekend!

Mary Siani - Really like the re-edit. I like how you re-cropped it and it looks so much better. Funny how that can make such a big difference. I like the lighter version too. Great job!!

Texture – Project 52

This week’s project assignment is texture.   I tried my best to work with my extra wiggly model 🙂 and capture the lines and ridges in a dog’s nose.

Tails – Project 52

When it comes to communication, tails are a barometer for what a pet is feeling or messaging to another animal/person.  And in pet photography, it’s a wonderful meter to use when meeting new clients.   This is why I chose “tails” as the theme for this week’s project challenge….in addition to the fact that it’s one of my favorite body parts to photograph – they come in all shapes and sizes!
