Wide Open

This week’s theme is Wide Open – shooting at maximum aperture or in an open space.

This photo was shot with my 20mm f1.8 lens for a wide open shot in front of an abandoned Hostess Cake Bakery building.  Before the bakery closed, a number of years ago, everything was on sale for less than a dollar!

Fitness

It is my turn to choose the theme for the week and I decided upon Fitness – pet wellbeing.

Xavi enjoys all type of exercise, but what we can’t do without is core strengthening.  Here he is on his FitPAWS balance discs.  It’s also great therapy for his hips and has improved his balance (especially come dock diving season).

January 30, 2015 - 8:04 am

Deanna - Cool! How long does he stand on those? Do you have him do tricks and training on them too?

January 30, 2015 - 8:35 am

Jennifer - love it! Xavi is doing a much better job then I did yesterday trying to balance on those type of discs!

January 30, 2015 - 10:07 am

Karen - He has learned to stand on them for a good 5 minutes. He also trains on the big exercise balls for balance and treibball.

January 30, 2015 - 10:45 am

Trina - This is great exercise for the dogs! Izzy’s not as good at this as Xavi is, but we’re working on it. Great shot!

January 30, 2015 - 11:19 am

Tara - Wow – I have never seen anything like it!

January 30, 2015 - 12:15 pm

Marianne Cherry - wow – who knew that dogs had to work on core stabilization just like we humans do! makes total sense. I love his stance on those balance discs.

January 30, 2015 - 1:31 pm

Alicia A Kapheim - Pretty great trick to get them to stand on wobbly discs! (And then stay in place for a photo!)

January 31, 2015 - 6:45 am

Marilina Davila - Xavi really takes fitness seriously! Are these really made for dogs? It’s not easy standing on one of those, let alone two!

February 1, 2015 - 12:24 am

Sharon Stokes - Wow! How awesome and clever is Xavi! That is a really super shot of him too!

February 1, 2015 - 2:04 am

Kelly Wolfe - Those balance discs are neat – I haven’t seen them before! I have a dog that has hip issues and it’d be interesting to see how these work with her. Dock diving sounds fun too. Looking forward to seeing Xavi in action once the season comes around. 🙂

Frame It

January

This is my first Project 52 post in 2015 – yay!  Our theme this week is January – what it means to you.

In our house, January means sleeping in.  Over the last 15 years, Reyse has become the master of hibernation (and the sweet snore).  The cooler temperatures give her excuse to sleep in and dream more.
