I’d like to thank Deana Hurt of StinkDog Photos in Denver, Colorado for choosing this week’s Beautiful Beasties 52 project theme – recreate or imitate a piece of art.\u00a0 The assignment TOTALLY pushed me to learn new\u00a0post-production techniques.\u00a0\u00a0Fun, fun, fun!<\/p>\n

In my most recent visits to the flea market, I’ve noticed a few vendors selling\u00a0animal postage stamps from various parts of the world.\u00a0\u00a0 Many will never end up on display\u00a0at a museum, but I’d still consider them little pieces of art.\u00a0 Wouldn’t you?<\/p>\n

A quick online search directed me to a number of sites that highlight animal postage stamps (ebay as well!).\u00a0\u00a0For this week’s assignment, I am\u00a0referencing\u00a0a\u00a0stamp from\u00a0the Republic of Buriatia (which is located in southern Siberia) that was\u00a0distributed in 2001 and featured a German Shorthaired Pointer (source: animalstamps.com).\u00a0 My sister’s dog, Meekah, is part GSP and was my model recreating the postage stamp\u00a0pictured above.<\/p>\n
