I’d like to thank Deana Hurt of StinkDog Photos in Denver, Colorado for choosing this week’s Beautiful Beasties 52 project theme – recreate or imitate a piece of art. The assignment TOTALLY pushed me to learn new post-production techniques. Fun, fun, fun!
In my most recent visits to the flea market, I’ve noticed a few vendors selling animal postage stamps from various parts of the world. Many will never end up on display at a museum, but I’d still consider them little pieces of art. Wouldn’t you?
A quick online search directed me to a number of sites that highlight animal postage stamps (ebay as well!). For this week’s assignment, I am referencing a stamp from the Republic of Buriatia (which is located in southern Siberia) that was distributed in 2001 and featured a German Shorthaired Pointer (source: animalstamps.com). My sister’s dog, Meekah, is part GSP and was my model recreating the postage stamp pictured above.
Continue with the blog circle and visit Dogfish Pet Photography in Calgary, Alberta and check out the next recreation/imitation project. All the best!
